Statistical Analysis on the Mortgage Registration (Jan 2020)

According to Land Registry and Centaline Mortgage Research, a total of 4,758 mortgage registrations for completed residential units were recorded in February, 22.3% less than that recorded in the previous month, which hit a record low since April 2016. Bank of China (BOC) was the number one bank for 7 consecutive months with 1,311 mortgage registrations for completed units in January, representing 27.6% market share during the same period. HSBC ranked second with a market share of 17.8% (847 cases). Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) ranked third with a market share of 9.5% (454 cases) in January.

 

A total of 1,075 mortgage registrations for pre-sold unfinished units were recorded in January, representing a significant month-on-month increase of 16.7%. BOC still ranked first for 3 consecutive months in the mortgage market for pre-sold unfinished units with 360 accumulated cases, representing a market share of 33.5%. The Bank of East Asia ranked second with 14.9% market share. Standard Chartered Bank came in third with 14% market share.
